Kralendijk - Drunk Driving Arrests - On Sunday, January 12th, around 8:40 PM, a 36-year-old man with initials C.A.M. was arrested on Kaya Grandi for driving under the influence of alcohol. The arrest occurred after the suspect was involved in a two-vehicle collision and subsequently left the scene. Upon returning to the scene, he displayed several characteristics of someone under the influence of alcohol. In accordance with the "crash, breathe" policy, a breathalyzer test was administered to both drivers, which showed that the suspect had consumed more than the legal amount of alcohol. He was subsequently arrested and taken to the police station for a breathalyzer test. Further investigation revealed that the suspect did not possess a valid driver's license and was issued a ticket for this.

On Saturday, January 11th, around 5:15 PM, the central emergency dispatch center received a report of a collision between a car and a scooter at the intersection of Hanchi Amboina and Kaya Nikiboko Noord. Both drivers involved were breathalysed in accordance with the "crash is blow" policy, which revealed they had both consumed more than the legal amount of alcohol. The car driver, a 44-year-old man with initials F.J.A., was arrested for driving under the influence and received a three-hour driving ban. The scooter driver, a 30-year-old woman with initials V.J.H., was also arrested for driving under the influence. Because the suspect was injured, she was first taken to the hospital by ambulance for medical treatment and later to the police station for a breathalyzer test. During the check, it turned out she did not have a driver's license and the scooter was also uninsured. As a result, she was given a ticket and the scooter was taken to the police station.

Car drove into supermarket wall

On Sunday, January 12th, around 4:00 PM, the central dispatch center received a report of a single-vehicle accident in which a car had crashed into the wall of a supermarket. Upon arrival of the police and ambulance, the driver stated that she felt unwell while parking, pressed the accelerator, and crashed into the wall. She also stated that she did not have a driver's license and could not produce valid insurance. Consequently, the vehicle was taken to the police station until the owner could produce the correct documentation. The driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance for a medical checkup. During the check, the officers found several weapons in the car, including a machete, a pocketknife, and an iron bar. These weapons were confiscated.

Shooting with injuries

On Saturday, January 11, around 10:00 PM, a shooting occurred in the Amboina neighborhood, injuring two people. The injured were taken to the hospital by private car for medical treatment.

In connection with the shooting, a search was conducted on Sunday, January 12, at a residence on Kaya Herman J. Pop. During the search, several items relevant to the investigation were seized. A 21-year-old man with initials O.O.C. was arrested in connection with the investigation. The case is ongoing.

On Saturday, January 11, around 7:45 PM, the central emergency dispatch center received a report of a collision between a scooter and a car on Kaya Industria. Upon arrival, it turned out the scooter had collided with the back of a stationary car. The scooter rider was injured and treated at the scene by paramedics. In accordance with the "collision requires breathing" policy, both drivers were breathalyzed, with negative results.

Accident

On Saturday, January 11, around 2:15 a.m., the emergency dispatch center received a report of a single-vehicle accident involving a scooter on Kaya Leiden. Upon arrival, police found two people who had fallen from the scooter and landed in the bushes. Both people suffered minor abrasions and were taken to the hospital by ambulance for medical treatment. The cause of the accident is unknown.

Preventive frisking

During the evening hours of Thursday, January 9th, and Friday, January 10th, between 9:00 PM and 2:15 AM, preventative frisking was conducted at various locations. Both persons and vehicles were searched during this search.

Upon police arrival, the two people on the scooter were treated by paramedics. Although both were injured, they did not require hospitalization. The driver of the pickup truck stated that he was driving on Kaya Pos di Amor when, at the intersection of Kaya Kanari and Kaya Flamingo, a scooter drove straight ahead without stopping. Both drivers had their documents in order.

Theft from vehicle

On Thursday, January 9th, a theft was reported from a pickup truck parked in front of a house on Kaya Mandolin. Between 12:15 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on that date, unknown persons took a green DuroMax 5500-watt 224cc Elec Start Dual generator from the truck bed. The case is under investigation.

Arrest for violation of the Opium Act

On Wednesday, January 8th, around 10:00 PM, a 21-year-old man with initials R.G.R.S. was arrested on Kaya Kanari for violating the BES Opium Act. Following a report of a suspicious situation, a patrol had stopped three young men on Kaya Kanari. These three men matched the description given in the report.

During the check, several plastic bags containing suspected narcotics were found in the suspect's shoulder bag. The bags were confiscated, and the suspect was taken to the police station.

Theft at the beach

On Wednesday, January 8th, a theft was reported at Playa Pal’i Mangel (Donkey’s Beach), located on E.E.G. Boulevard. Between 11:30 and 11:45 a.m., a red and black cooler bag and a blue and white striped beach bag with their contents were taken by unknown persons while the owners were snorkeling. The bags contained, among other things, two iPhones, keys, clothing, several cards, two pairs of Sundogs sunglasses, a pair of Bushnell binoculars in their case, cash, and water bottles. The case is under investigation.

Scooter theft

On Wednesday, January 8th, a black NIU scooter, model NQi1S, with license plate number MF-391, was reported stolen. The scooter was parked with a steering lock in front of an apartment complex on Kaya Papa Cornes. Between Tuesday, January 7th, around 11:00 PM and Wednesday, January 8th, 7:50 AM, the scooter was taken by unknown persons. On Sunday, January 12th, a citizen reported finding a suspected stolen scooter in the bushes in Antriol. Upon checking, it turned out to be the scooter previously reported stolen. The scooter was seized for further investigation.

On Monday, January 6th, a black/gray SYM scooter, model MIO, with license plate number MF-3801, was reported stolen. The scooter was parked with a steering lock in front of a house on Kaya Heerlen. Between 11:00 PM on Sunday, January 5th and 11:00 AM on Monday, January 6th, the scooter was taken by unknown persons.

The cases are being investigated.

Arrest threat

On Tuesday, January 7, around 7:15 PM, a 24-year-old man with initials R.G.C. was arrested in Bario Mamparia Kutu for making threats. The case is under investigation.

Collision

On Monday, January 6th, around 4:25 PM, a scooter was hit on Kaya Gobernador Nicolaas Debrot. The scooter driver, traveling northbound on Gobernador Nicolaas Debrot, suddenly braked for a car that was turning onto Bulevar Gobernador Nicolaas Debrot from Kaya P.N. Antonio Neuman. This caused the scooter driver to lose control and fall, sustaining minor abrasions. She was treated at the scene by paramedics. Both drivers were breathalyzed, in accordance with the "crash-is-blow" policy, and both tested negative.

Container burglary

Op maandag 6 januari werd aangifte gedaan van inbraak in een bouwcontainer aan de Kaya Pos di Amor. Tussen zondag 5 januari, rond 16:30 uur en maandag 6 januari, rond 08:00 uur, hebben onbekenden de containerslot en een hangslot vernield om zich toegang tot de container te verschaffen. Er werden onder andere zeven ramen en één deur vanuit de container meegenomen. De zaak wordt onderzocht.
