Since 25 May 2018, the new privacy law General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies. This law obliges an employer, among other things, to inform applicants about the personal data that the employer processes about them. Below you will find an overview of the personal data that the National Police processes about applicants and what they are used for.

Purposes of processing

The processing of personal data for the purpose of recruitment and selection has the following objectives:

  • Performing recruitment, in line with the labour market strategy, such as providing information, opening up vacancies and maintaining the vacancy site(s). For the police, this concerns both the recruitment of initial and non-initial positions.
  • Selecting the best candidates for the open positions in line with the appointment requirements and the competence profiles belonging to the LFNP (National Job Structure National Police).
  • Performing the screening for new employees.
  • Ensuring an optimal 'landing' of new employees so that they are able and motivated to resume their training or work as quickly as possible. This also includes the appointment and swearing in.
  • Hiring external candidates such as temporary workers via employment agencies and temporary employees via a marketplace process.

Processing basis

By sending personal data via kombijdepolitie.nl, the person concerned gives the police explicit permission to use this data.

Confidentiality

We treat your data confidentially. We use security procedures, including to prevent unauthorized access to this data.

Sometimes we engage an external processor. We make agreements with these external processors about the secure processing of your personal data.

Retention periods for applicant data

We use the following retention periods:

  • For business-related functions, we use the following retention periods:

    • 1 month after completion of the application procedure for rejected candidates.
    • 1 year after termination of the application procedure for rejected candidates, if the candidate has given permission for longer storage of his/her data.
  • For police functions we use different retention periods. The retention periods are set up in accordance with the provisions in the Regulation on appointment requirements for the police 2023. The file with the results and findings from the suitability investigation is kept for two years.

We will not store your application data longer than necessary. We will always inform you after the procedure which storage period applies in your case.

You can submit a request at any time to view, correct or delete your personal data. If you have any questions about the psychological examination, please contact the psychologist who conducted the examination. The provisions of the  NIP Code of Conduct apply to the data collected in the context of the psychological examination .
