Oranjestad/The Bottom - Arrest for Driving Under the Influence - On Friday, January 10th, around 6:00 PM, a 35-year-old woman with initials A.C.G. was arrested on Upper Road on Saba for driving under the influence of alcohol. The suspect crashed a police vehicle into a parked pickup truck on the street. In accordance with the "crash, blow" policy, the driver was given a breathalyzer test. The officers repeatedly instructed the suspect on how to blow into the device, but she repeatedly failed to do so correctly. She was arrested and taken to the police station for a breathalyzer test. Based on the results, the suspect's driver's license was confiscated.

Traffic control

On Friday, January 10th, several vehicles were stopped for a traffic check on St. Eustatius. During the check, 21 vehicles were checked, and 7 tickets were issued.

These tickets were as follows:

1 for driving without paid road tax;

1 for driving without a seatbelt;

1 for driving without a license plate;

1 for driving with defective lights;

1 for driving with a child behind the wheel;

1 for driving without a valid driver's license;

1 for driving without a valid insurance certificate.

The KPCN will continue to conduct checks at various locations on the island and warns everyone participating in traffic to have all necessary documents in order. The police will continue to conduct these checks to ensure the safety of all road users. Furthermore, everyone is urged to adhere to the traffic regulations so that together we can contribute to safe traffic on the island.

Planned traffic control

On Wednesday, January 8th, a scheduled traffic check was conducted on Samuel A. Charles Street on Saba. Six vehicles were stopped for the check. During the check, officers approached several children on a school bus about their behavior. All driver's documents were in order. One driver received a warning for driving without a seatbelt.

KPCN would like to remind everyone to always have all necessary documents in order. Adhering to the rules of the traffic ordinance is also strongly advised. This also contributes to traffic safety on the island.
