Kralendijk - Drunk Driving Arrests - On Wednesday, January 22nd, around 1:40 a.m., an 18-year-old man with the initials T.V.B. was arrested on Kaya Italia for driving under the influence of alcohol. The arrest occurred after a patrol stopped a scooter with two people on it for a routine check. The driver was able to produce a valid driver's license but no proof of insurance. He was ticketed for this. During the check, it was observed that he displayed several characteristics of someone under the influence of alcohol. A breathalyzer test was administered, which showed that he had consumed more than the legal amount of alcohol. The suspect was arrested and taken to the police station for a breathalyzer test. Based on the results, he was given a two-hour driving ban.

On Sunday, January 19th, around 1:20 a.m., a collision occurred between a car and a pickup truck on Kaya Grandi. Both drivers involved were breathalysed in accordance with the "crash is breath" policy, which revealed that one of the drivers had consumed more than the legal amount of alcohol. The 60-year-old man, whose initials were F.A.M., was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Following the results, his driver's license was confiscated.

On Thursday, January 16th, around 6:35 p.m., the emergency dispatch center received a report of a collision between two vehicles on E.E.G. Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found a car and a pickup truck involved in the collision. The driver of the car drove off the road, collided with the pickup truck, and then overturned. The car came to a rest on the beach. The driver displayed several characteristics of someone under the influence of alcohol. In accordance with the "crash, blow" policy, a breath test was administered. The test revealed she had consumed more than the legal limit of alcohol. A 36-year-old woman, M.A.H., was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Because she was injured, she was first taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Afterward, she was taken to the police station for a breathalyzer test. Based on the results, her driver's license was confiscated.

Arrest attempted manslaughter

On Monday, January 20th, around 7:45 PM, a 22-year-old man with initials K.P.T. was arrested on Bulevar Gobernador Nicolaas Debrot for attempted manslaughter and aggravated assault. The arrest occurred after a report was received that a vehicle had struck two people. The driver then fled on foot. Upon arrival, police found the vehicle against the fence of a house. The victims, who were very shaken, were sheltering in the garden of a house. An ambulance arrived on the scene and offered assistance to the victims. Neither required hospitalization. Shortly afterward, an unknown man arrived and stated that he was the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision. He was immediately arrested. The case is under investigation.

Fatal snorkeling incident

On Monday, January 20th, around 12:25 PM, the emergency dispatch center received a report of an unknown person found floating in the sea. Personnel on a submarine pulled the female victim from the sea and brought her to shore. Those on the boat began resuscitating the victim until the ambulance and police arrived. Upon arrival, the paramedics took over resuscitation, but to no avail. The medical examiner who arrived at the scene pronounced the 69-year-old woman, E.K., born on August 16, 1955, in Germany, dead.

Collision between car and motorcycle

On Sunday, January 19th, around 2:20 PM, a car and a motorcycle collided at the intersection of Hanchi Amboina and Kaya Nikiboko North. When police arrived, the victim was already in the ambulance and was shortly thereafter taken to the hospital for medical treatment. The driver of the car stated that she drove onto the road and did not see the motorcycle approaching. Because oil had spilled onto the road as a result of the collision, the fire department spread sand on it.

Shots fired

On the afternoon and evening of Sunday, January 19th, the central emergency dispatch center received several reports of fevers and gunshots heard near Nort Saliña and at the cemetery on Kaya Maria C. Hellmund-Boom. A fire was also reported at the cemetery, which the fire department extinguished.

On the evening of Monday, January 21st, further reports of gunshots heard near Nort Saliña were received.

Pickup truck theft and home burglary

In the morning hours of Saturday, January 18th, the central emergency dispatch center received a report of a vehicle that had just been stolen from the property of a house on Kaya Mandolin. The owner, who was abroad at the time, saw on the security camera footage how two unknown men walked onto his property and then took his white Nissan Navara pickup truck. The suspects also took buckets of roof paint from the trunk of the pickup truck. Upon arrival at the house, police discovered that a burglary had also taken place. The suspects had ransacked the house. Both suspects were identified on the security camera footage.

On the same day, both men were arrested for theft and burglary. The first suspect, a 47-year-old man with the initials E.J.G.A.C., was arrested around 1:30 PM on Kaya Macario (Cai) Sint Jago. The second suspect, a 36-year-old man with the initials J.J.M., was arrested around 8:10 PM at a snack bar on Kaya Avelino J. (Abechi) Cecilia. The stolen pickup truck was parked at the snack bar and was confiscated. An investigation into the case is ongoing.

Collision Kaya Korona

On Friday, January 17, around 1:45 a.m., a collision occurred on Kaya Korona. The driver was injured and trapped inside the vehicle. The fire department was called to the scene to extricate the victim, who was then taken to the hospital by ambulance for medical treatment. The passenger stated that they were driving northbound on Kaya Korona when they saw a pickup truck approaching in their lane. The driver tried to swerve, lost control, and drove through plants into a parking lot before crashing into a wall. The car sustained significant front-end damage. Officers found alcoholic beverages in the car, and both the driver and passenger showed signs of alcohol consumption. Because the driver had to be transported directly to the hospital, a breathalyzer test could not be administered.

Home burglary

On Thursday, January 16, a burglary was reported at a home on Kaya Playa Lechi. Between Wednesday, January 15, around 6:00 PM, and Thursday, January 16, around 8:00 AM, unknown persons broke the back door of the home and stole a television from the living room. The case is under investigation.

Arrest for animal cruelty

On Thursday, January 16th, around 2:25 PM, a 70-year-old man with initials R.S.D. was arrested on Kaya Karko for animal cruelty. Earlier that day, a report had been received about an argument between two people over a dog at a house on the street in question. During the argument, the suspect had sprayed a poisonous liquid on the dog and beat it. When police arrived, they found a seriously injured dog with an open head wound and damaged fur and skin. The dog was still alive but in serious danger of dying. The animal was also covered in ticks and was extremely thin, with its ribs and hips clearly visible. The police took the dog to a veterinary clinic for treatment. Despite the veterinarian's efforts, the dog died from its injuries. The case was investigated, and the file has been submitted to the Public Prosecution Service.

Hit and Run

On Wednesday, January 15, around 11:00 PM, a report of a hit-and-run was received in the city center. A black car had reportedly rear-ended another car at high speed. Since the street was one-way, the vehicle that was struck was pushed forward so the black car could leave the scene. The passenger in the struck vehicle was injured and treated at the scene by paramedics. Upon further investigation, the car believed to have caused the collision was found at a house on Kaya Korona. The driver stated that he hadn't stopped because he was in shock and, out of fear, continued driving home. The investigation into the case is ongoing.

Theft at the beach

On Wednesday, January 15th, a theft was reported at "Te Amo Beach," located on Kaya Internashonal. Between 3:10 PM and 3:40 PM, unknown persons took a white bag containing valuables while the owners were snorkeling. The bag contained, among other things, Oakley and Serengety sunglasses, beach towels, clothes, a power bank, a GO PRO HERO 5, and car keys. The case is under investigation.

On Wednesday, January 15th, a theft was reported at Playa Pal'i Mangel (Donkey's Beach), located on E.E.G. Boulevard. Around 1:30 PM, unknown persons took a yellow, green, and pink Rituals bag and its contents while the owners were swimming. The bag contained, among other things, a car key and beach towels. The case is under investigation.
