Kralendijk - Arrest for driving under the influence - On Friday, January 24, around 2:45 a.m., a 30-year-old man with initials E.J.Y.M. was arrested on Kaya Korona for driving under the influence of alcohol. The arrest occurred after a patrol car traveling on the street observed a vehicle colliding head-on with a lamppost. When officers got out of the patrol car to see if the driver needed assistance, he indicated he did not. Upon further inspection, it turned out the driver did not have a valid driver's license and was also uninsured. In accordance with the "crash, breathe" policy, a breathalyzer test was administered. This showed he had consumed more than the legal amount of alcohol. The suspect was arrested and taken to the police station for a breathalyzer test.

Burglary of home

On Thursday, January 23, a burglary was reported at an apartment on Kaya Sirena. Between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM on that date, unknown persons gained entry through an unlocked front door and searched the apartment. A black Xiaomi phone, model 11T, was taken from the bedroom. The case is under investigation.

Arrest for insulting a civil servant while on duty

On Thursday, January 23, around 1:25 a.m., a 30-year-old man with the initials R.B. was arrested at a tourist accommodation on Bulevar Julio A. Abraham. He was charged with insulting a public servant on duty, public intoxication, and resisting arrest. The arrest occurred after a report was received about a man staying at the accommodation and causing a disturbance. Upon police arrival, a security guard stated that the man had caused trouble earlier in the day and had been drinking heavily. While the officers were talking to the security guard, the man approached, began yelling and filming with his phone.

However, the man continued yelling at the security guard and ignored the officer. An altercation ensued between the man and an officer, leading to a brief struggle, after which the man insulted the officer. The man was ultimately arrested. During the arrest, the man resisted arrest. He also continued insulting the officers during transport to the police station. The Caribbean Netherlands Police Force wishes to remind everyone that no form of verbal or physical violence against officers will be tolerated. Officers have every right to report suspects for any form of abuse they experience, whether in uniform or out of uniform. Everyone's calm cooperation during checks and when violations are observed leads to a peaceful resolution, which is desirable for everyone.
