Arrest and fines for traffic violations on Sint Eustatius

In the morning hours of Friday, the 17th of July, the police conducted routine traffic controls at various locations on Sint Eustatius. During these controls, several fines were issued for traffic violations.

These were as follows:

  • 7x for riding without a helmet;

  • 5x for driving without paid road tax;

  • 3x for driving without insurance;

  • 1x for driving without a driver's license.

Around 8:10 AM, an arrest was also made on Schrupon Road because a man failed to comply with a police order and resisted his arrest. It concerns a 29-year-old man with the initials M.A.C.S.

Six (6) motorbike, including five scooters and one moped, were taken to the police station until the owners can produce valid documentation.

KPCN would like to remind everyone to ensure that all necessary documents are in order. Compliance with the regulations of the traffic ordinance is also strongly advised. By doing so, you contribute to traffic safety on the island. Regular controls will continue to be held in the coming period, and strict action will be taken if your documentation is not in order or if you do not abide by the traffic rules.

Failing to follow the rules? Then you could receive a fine. The amount of a fine for the aforementioned violations varies between $30 and $225.
